There’s still no attempt to redraw the preview image while moving a slider you have to release the slider to see the effect. The “RAW” process, which has nothing to do with Raw files, is still “destructive” when you hit the Apply button - you can only undo it by going back to a restore point or by reopening the file. Notably unchanged: there’s still no undo facility other than manually-created restore points. This resets the font size, window positions, etc. You can now reset the user interface appearance, from the Extras menu. The major new feature touted for Franzis HDR Projects 2018 is HDR Styles, but there are many other changes as well. Much of this likely also applies to the non-Pro version. Here I look at what’s different in HDR Projects 2018 Professional.

I did a fairly comprehensive (long-winded) review of Franzis HDR Projects 5 Professional at. Performance has not been improved, either. The user interface remains overwhelming for newcomers, and the absence of a basic “undo” continues to frustrate. But in the process, it breaks backwards compatibility with older versions even more than is usual for Franzis: the five HDR Styles don’t include any that give the same result produced by prior versions of HDR Projects.

TL DR With the 2018 release of Franzis HDR Projects, the arguably most powerful parametric image editor on the planet gains even more power, with a choice of five HDR styles, computed masks for filters, and a number of other goodies.
